Want To Look Glamorous
Glamour is not based on a certain kind of face or body type. The most beautiful
face and body can be very unglamorous - all the way to downright tacky or
Have you ever noticed a stranger across a room who for some reason you just
couldn’t take our eyes off of…who drew your attention and you weren’t
sure why. She wasn’t a “raving beauty” perhaps or she may
not have been blessed with “the best body” in the world—but,
nonetheless, she was radiantly beautiful—stunning—and she had a
look that demanded your attention, in a very positive way.
You may like to know YOU, too, can learn how
to “demand” this positive attention. Everyone can be glamorous.
First, you must understand what it is and where the look comes from. It comes
from the concern and overall interest you take in the details of your look,
your face, hair and body. It does not take expensive clothing, jewelry or the
latest hairstyle! Glamour is emitted from a multitude of small details that
have been “put together” to create an overall image of exceedingly
good looks.
Here’s your checklist. Now get ready to Dazzle!
(Some of these won’t be new to you, but a reminder can’t hurt!)
The number one unglamorous thing you can do is to chew gum in public.
Take a good look at your hands. “Glamour” does not mean you need
long, sculptured, red nails…they can be, if that’s your style and
they’re not overly long. But “Glamour” does mean spotlessly
clean and manicured nails (yes you can do it at home), and more or less even
in length. They can be short with clear or colored polish, if you wish, but
most important, they must look “cared for.”
Run down shoes, heels worn, in need of a polish are unglamorous. A garment
with buttons or hooks missing, or stained is unglamorous. A run in a stocking
is very unglamorous (we can all get caught here, can’t we!). All this
needs to be constantly checked.
Needless to say clean healthy looking hair in a neat style…a nice cut
for your special look is a requirement.
Don’t wear too much jewelry. So many people overdo jewelry. Whether
it’s real or not, too much of it makes one look “junked up” and
unglamorous. Some people tell me I wear too little jewelry, but I tell them “I” am
the jewel…I don’t need any more. Keep it simple and . . . glamorous.
If you wonder if the jewelry you have on is too much…take some of it
off…it is too much!
Clothing: No matter how good any one aspect might be, it is the whole you that
must look good if you want to be glamorous. A woman can be wearing the most
expensive jewelry, have a gorgeous hairstyle, and the most up-to-date designer
clothes, and each one of these things individually could be very striking
indeed. But if they don’t mix, if they are incongruous when put together,
the look can be ruined, even become unflattering and . . . unglamorous. If
you want to turn heads, keep things uncluttered looking and a bit simple.
Here, a full length mirror is your best friend. Don’t forget to look
at the backside of the outfit too in order to see what others see. Don’t
wear clothing that does not suit YOUR body. No fads or trends that don’t
make you look your best. Remember the classic clothes can stay around forever.
Good Posture is very important to the glamorous look, too, whether sitting
or standing. It also is good for your health, and a more youthful appearance.

Do not wear iridescent or bright blue eye shadow. This comes under the “downright
tacky” category. Manufacturers will try to sell you anything. This is
not the least bit flattering to anyone’s face. Please click on More Oleda
Tips again and then click on “7 Beauty Tips That Instantly Make You Look Younger.” While being photographed
during the heyday of my modeling career (for a famous cosmetics company), another
model and I had to wear this bright blue eye shadow for the shoot. We washed
it off before we left the studio…wouldn’t be caught on the street
with it. (Usually we would leave make-up on and go to the next studio.)
Put on some eye make-up, a little rouge on your cheeks, lipstick, foundation
and then powder the shine down from your face. (An oily face is not glamorous
and it accentuates wrinkles.)
Now go out and expose the world, or the other side of a room, to YOUR glamour.
