Don’t Lose Brain Tissue
After 30, the human brain gradually loses tissue resulting in declines in
cognitive performance. Since baby boomers are now reaching their sixties, and
recognizing the staggering costs associated with geriatric care, identifying
ways that can reduce or reverse mental deterioration has become an important
public health goal. Scientists have examined the relationship between physical
fitness and brain tissue density in an older population.
While study after study has consistently found steep declines in brain tissue
density in various brain sectors as a function of age, it has also been discovered
that losses in these areas were substantially reduced as a function of cardiovascular
fitness.
These findings expand the scope of the beneficial effects of aerobic exercise
beyond cardiovascular health and weight maintenance, and they strongly suggest
a solid biological basis for the benefits of exercise on the brains of older
adults.
So, when I tell you that you must practice a healthy regimen of a nutritious
diet and regular exercise in order to maintain your fitness and proper weight,
I now also include in that your mental acuity, as well.
Be smart. Exercise!

To help feed the brain celss and connective tissues
To help prevent declines in brain tissues density we need to keep our minds busy learning new things. We must also do moderate exercise. Most important is to have nutritionally balanced diet that feeds the brain cells and connective tissues.
