One way to help protect against getting the flu is
to keep the immune system
strong to build up resistance to bacteria and viruses by eating
balanced meals
that include plenty of fruit and vegetables. In addition, I try to
get plenty of rest and
avoid stressful situations.
This particular strain of the flu is not spread
through the air as much as
previous types, more so by contact. So we must be careful what and
who we touch.
• Keep work areas clean
• Stock up on and use hand sanitizers
• Wash hands often
• Use spray disinfectants to sanitize the air and work
surfaces
•
Cough or sneeze in tissues and dispose of them immediately --
Don’t leave
them sitting around
• Always wash hands after sneezing or blowing your nose or
coughing into
a tissue
• Make sure you have tissues easily at hand. If you happen to get
caught
without one when you need to cough or sneeze, try to cover your nose
and mouth
with
the crook of your elbow rather than your hand
•
Drink plenty of liquids—especially those with vitamin C and
antioxidants
•
When using stairs or escalators, try to avoid using the
banister…use
the side of your hand for balance when/if necessary
• Train yourself to keep your hands away from your nose, mouth
and eyes
• Keep your immune system strong to help build up resistance to
bacteria
and viruses. And If you do get the flu a strong immune system can help
prevent
a more serious case.
