WHAT FAMOUS NEW YORK MODEL HAD A RECEDING CHIN, YET HAD 27 VOGUE COVERS TO HER CREDIT? Models are masters at creating the illusion of facial beauty. Wilhelmina, model and owner of the world famous Wilhelmina Model Agency in New York City appeared on 27 Vogue Covers. She was a beauty without make-up, but when she wanted a stronger look, she could “add” to her somewhat receding chin in less than a minute. I watched her do it at times when we were working the same fashion shoot together. Here’s how: Highlight and Shading products are used to lighten and darken areas of the face. Highlight emphasizes parts of the face and is used to tone down dark areas. Shading accents certain features and can give the illusion of a more refined bone structure. Apply make- up as usual, but don’t powder down. Use your fingertip to apply Highlight from your ears down along the edge of your jawbone and on the edge of your chin from both sides. Blend the Highlight carefully into the foundation so there’s no visible demarcation line. Nothing should “stand out.” Then powder down.
