Now What, Baby Boomers? …You
Baked In The Sun’s Rays In Your 20’s and 30’s.…and Now You Want To Know How
To Get Rid Of Wrinkles From The Sun Damage? Of Course You
Do…. I hate to say it, but I told
you so years ago. Many of you baked in the sun anyway
and now are trying to get rid of the wrinkles caused by
the sun’s ultraviolet rays. Some may even try to make
light of it and say “it’s just normal
aging”…wrong. So what to do NOW? Can Alpha
Hydroxy Acids…the much talked about acids….rescue your
Aging Skin? The answer is yes, AHA can
help…how much of course depends on how much sun damage
you have. As I said way back then, the problem is not
just the surface skin damage the sun causes, but also
the permanent damage (aging) of the collagen and cells
under the skin’s
surface. But there is hope for most.
The findings are that the right ingredient
balance of Alpha Hydroxy Acids is the only skin
treatment that can help get rid of wrinkles and lines in
the face and neck. AHA’s are unlike traditional creams
and lotions, since their molecules are small enough to
penetrate beneath the skin, causing an increased cell
turnover rate as well as a decreased thickness of the
skin’s surface…all at the same time. The bottom
line benefit depends on the product’s pH factor, which
is a measure of its acidity – which other ingredients
are included in the formula, and how often it is used on
which part of the skin. Oleda's

Wrinkles New medical research is
indicating that Vitamin D might be an important
element for protection from Lymphoma, cancers of
the colon, prostate, lung, and even skin. Be
Careful! Make sure you are hearing the full
medical report instead of a reporter’s
interpretation for the purpose of getting
attention and making headlines. One headline I
heard inferred that it’s now “OK to soak up the
sun.” Don’t believe it! It is
not OK to “soak up the sun,”
not now, anymore than it has ever
been. It’s true that a
primary source of Vitamin D is... yes, the
sun, and that it’s difficult to fulfill our
health needs for it through the food we eat.
BUT, CAUTION:
The research states that the sun might very well
be a good source of Vitamin D, HOWEVER it also
says 10 or 15 minutes exposure without sunscreen
twice a week is all you need to get the necessary
amount. I would like to remind you to keep
the sun off the back of your hands, unless you
want to speed up the aging of this very thin and
delicate skin. I've been getting that much
sun exposure for years... but on my feet...
soak it up feet... no age spots where I get my
Vitamin D!! Also, if you are outdoors
walking around, often you might just be getting
enough already. Other sources of
Vitamin D are: Supplements: Most
vitamin supplements contain the form called
Vitamin D-2, but Vitamin D-3 is far
more potent, which is what I have touted for
years. The OLEDA
Age Enhancer Vitamin has
always contained 233 IUs of Vitamin D-3 per dose.
Foods: If you
would rather, you can eat Oily fish, such as
salmon and tuna, Vitamin D-fortified foods and
drinks. This new “breaking
news” story is a reminder that we must always look
for the truth and full background and story of an
issue. Guidelines To Help
You Choose Makeup Products That You should know that
unflattering makeup problems are often the result of
incorrect color choices, improper product consistency
and inferior ingredients. Sometimes, of course, it is
also how it is applied….but that’s another subject. (For
How to Apply Makeup Correctly, see
Oleda’s NO MISTAKE MAKEUP
SCHOOL.) Usually, if a model
feels her makeup looks bad after a shoot, she will take
it off before going to the next shoot…or even before
going home. One time, I was running late and did not
have time to do so. Arriving at the next shoot…a fashion
shoot…no sooner did I get in the door than this famous
photographer said to me…”remove that blue eye shadow
before getting on the set please.” It was not his image
of “beauty,” nor was it mine. I removed it immediately.
There are many colors
(and products) that should not be worn for a beautiful
glamorous look...a makeup company often cares only about
selling products, and the ads are very convincing for
you, if you don’t have strong opinions of your own, as
you can see I do!! Don’t be impressed with fads and
trends…unless they make YOU look better. One safeguard is to
always choose colors with a little earth tone in them.
For example, a red lipstick could have a hint of brown
or blue tone to keep the red from looking like a “bright
orange red.” Eye shadows should not
be an overly vivid, bright color. With a more neutral
eye shadow color, mascara and eyeliner, your eyes
should, and will, steal the show. Foundations and
powders should more or less work with your own skin
color…not too much red, yellow or orange tones, since
the other colors you apply “for color” like lipstick,
rouge and eye shadow would then clash. Foundation should
be close to your own skin color, powder can be a little
darker, if you like…but the same color is OK,
too. Eyebrow pencil color
should not be so dark that it overpowers your eyes. Step
back from the mirror – if your eyebrows are too dark and
heavy and they overpower your eyes, you need to soften
the eyebrow color or add a little more mascara or eye
shadow to balance them. Classic delicate
beauty and glamour are always in (from Oleda's Real People Makeover Gallery)
